The Event

WPCCS 2008 is an annual event held by the postgraduate students of Department of Computer Science at The University of Warwick. It is intended for postgraduate students to present research to their peers, in order to gain valuable experience in public speaking as well as an insight in the ongoing research in the department.

Target Audience

Every full-time postgraduate research student, in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of study, is expected to attend and to submit an abstract online by 1 June 2008. Postgraduate students beyond the 3rd year of study as well as taught MSc students are also invited to attend and the event and / or submit an abstract. Staff are encouraged to attend as much of the event as possible, in order to provide valuable feedback.

 

Peer-review

The abstracts will be peer-reviewed to provide feedback and allocate limited slots space (if needed). Selected authors will get the chance to present at the WPCCS in a 15 min (including questions) presentation.

 

Best-presentation award

Congratulations to Ritesh Krishna for winning the £100 best-presentation award (see Ritesh accepting the award here).

 

Social

The committee is pleased to announce the social concluding the WPCCS 2008 in The Bar Fusion. Everyone involved in the WPCCS is invited to join. There will be a buffet provided for us. For those of you who don't know where it is, Maurice be leaving from downstairs in the DCS foyer at 18:45

Registration is free of charge for people linked to DCS.

Author Instructions

Abstracts should be minimum 300 words and maximum 1 page A4. Note that this limit is strict and failure to comply will result in the work being rejected. This year there will not be strict formatting instructions.

Submit an abstract through the on-line system here

NOTE: The system expects an abstract in plain text and a "paper" in either pdf or word. The "paper" gives you the chance to put in some figures as well and is what will be reviewed in the end. Please submit this file even if it's just a pdf/word version of the plain text abstract. (Minimum 300 words maximum 1 page A4).

Presentation format

The authors will get the cance to present their work in a 20 min (including questions) presentation in cs104

The poster is available in A4 format and in A3 format formats.
