Our policy is that Academic English is International English: as distancies grew smaller and the Internet linked more and more remote parts of the world, English gradually became the lingua franca for information exchange. Especially in the academic field, in research and development, where international cooperation is a must, English is used frequently. Therefore, although we admire the original British accent, one has to be able to understand a multitude of accents from all around the world to be able to function in now-a-days society. However, although accents are more or less variable, the spoken, but mostly, the written academic language has still its rules and etiquette. These are the ones we are trying to teach you in this course.
This course is called 'your personal English teacher', because it will adapt to your needs and preferences. We are in the process of adding AI-based intelligent adaptation capabilities.

To make the best of this site you will need to make sure your browser supports Javascript,
Java, and the following free downloadable plug-in(s) for audio and video presentation: Media Player.
If you don't have space on your system for any of the above, please try our Text Only version, which will have less capabilities and options but will allow you a brief overview.
You might also want to use some dictionaries for the English language while you work with your personal English teacher. Here are some on-line dictionaries available freely on the Internet, which we strongly suggest you should use to help you with your study (you can open them in a separate window).
If you have everything that is needed, please press Enter, to enter the Multimedia enhanced English Teacher site! (Alternatively, you can press directly the 'My English Teacher' title-button. Next time you enter, please feel free to take that short-cut!)
