PERSONAL EDSAC






These new distributions of the Edsac Simulator (version 7.1.0) are designed to run on a desktop or laptop computer for an individual user. The Edsac Simulator folder will be placed in your Documents folder. Click on the EdsacLX or EdsacPC icon to run the program. For MacEdsac the Edsac Simulator will be placed in Applications.

EdsacLX is the fastest available version of the Edsac Simulator. To install the simulator, download EdsacLX_Setup.zip, unzip, and follow the guidance in the README file. EdsacLX has been tested on the most popular Linux distributions. Please report bugs or issues to or Martin Campbell-Kelly




EdsacLX for the Raspberry Pi. To install the simulator, download EdsacLX_RPi_Setup.zip, unzip, and follow the guidance in the README file. Please report bugs or issues as above.




EdsacPC is the most popular version of the simulator. EdsacPC will run on Windows 10 and recent versions of Windows. Download EdsacPC Setup, run, and follow the instructions. Please report any problems to Martin Campbell-Kelly




MacEdsac will run on Catalina (10.15.7) and recent versions of macOS. Download MacEdsac 7.0.1.dmg. To run the simulator, go to Applications, open the Edsac Simulator folder, and click on the MacEdsac icon. Please report any problems to Martin Campbell-Kelly




QEdsac is an open-source version of the simulator, written in C++, using the Qt5 toolkit. It has been thoroughly tested on various Linux distributions (including Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi 3), and minimally on MacOS X and MS Windows.
