Modelling study

The modelling study will involve simulating the drive train on a bicycle. The user will be able to select values for various different parameters, possibly including:

- teeth on cassette (rear sprockets) - teeth on chainring - crank arm length - crank RPM - force applied to pedal - wheel size

As an output, the speed could be given.

The model will be implemented using eden, scout and donald. A simple line drawing will be presented to the user using donald.

Possible expansions to the project could include the following: - a simple friction model for the chain - a 3D Sasami graphical representation of the system - resistance to forward motion - the affects of pedal induced suspension 'bob', on a bike with rear suspension - a look at integrating the model as part of a full bicycle model - the effects of a faulty / stiff link in the chain. Causing the chain to slip / skip

The modelling study should provide plenty of scope for allowing dependencies between the various parts of the system.
